Text A Reel

The name of the game is Text a Reel. All you need to do to play is shoot a reel and text it to a Hotline number. A Hotline number is a 10DLC telephone number setup to receive pictures attached to a text message. Hotlines support the following video formats: 3gpp and mp4. Carriers impose size limitations of about ninety seconds in duration on reels that are attached to text messages.

How this Works

We setup a demo website to show how this works. It is easy. We have seen that people like to shoot reels with their phone and share them, with their friends. Now people that like shoot pictures can text a reel using the hotline number for our demo application (OnA1A.com):

1. Shoot a Real.
2. Open the message app.
3. Dial 1-386-210-7500.
4. Say Hello (< 140 characters).
5. Attach that Reel to the message.
6. Send it.
7. Wait "a minute or two".
8. Tap Here to see it on the demo website.

The Game

The game rules are simple. The hotline number is posted at the participating location. Attach picture (a reel or a snapshot) that you would like to share. Attaching the reel is a two-step process. If you do that then you agree to the following media license. That includes unlimited rights to utilize the text message data.

Players don’t need to attach a reel to win a prize, media license does not apply to messages received without an attachment. This Media License permits the broadcasting of pictures on the Internet, and allows for their use in advertising the participating location.

Media License

Permission is granted, free of charge, to the recipient of a text message and its attached media item to handle all data from the text message without restrictions. This includes, but is not limited to, the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the attached media item, and to allow others to whom the media item is provided to do the same, under the following conditions:

This license permits broadcasting, distributing, remixing, adapting, and building upon the material sent via text message in any medium or format. It allows for commercial use and becomes effective when individuals send a text message with a media attachment from their phone. This license does not apply to messages received without a media attachment.
